R. Balki’s Shamitabh has been buzzing even before the project went on floors. And what took it a leap further was the casting of the film. What a cinematic treat it would be to see the mixture of a finest actor like Dhanush, a legendary superstar like Amitabh Bachchan and a debutante Akshara Haasan, who seem to be all set to carry forward the legacy.

With Shamitabh, we see two young talents belonging to a family of actors like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan who shared screen space with Mr. Bachchan in a 1985 film Geraftaar. While Dhanush is a superstar down south and having a family connect with Rajinikanth, and Akshara is a daughter of legendary actor Kamal Haasan, when asked how much of their style of working, or bits of their shadows can be seen in Dhanush and Akshara, Mr. Bachchan said, “I hope it never happens, because I think each one of them has their own individual capacity and stand. And many a times, when you have a legacy of actors or you come from a family of actors, the comparisons always starts off; are you going to be looking at your father, your brother, are you going to be looking at your sister; these comparisons often happen. But in their credit, none of the legacy has been with them; they create their own legacy and may that continue.”

After the success of Raanjhanaa and now with an equally strong role to Amitabh Bachchan in Shamitabh, Dhanush may justify Mr. Bachchan’s comment and for Akshara, we will have to wait till 6th February.
