Very recently the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) found itself in the eye of a storm with the involvement of the CBFC CEO Rakesh Kumar being accused of accepting bribes to expedite the certification process. Following this a number of changes have been implemented within the CBFC as well as in the process of certification. Thanks to these new rules and regulations that are being enforced, a number of filmmakers have been finding it increasingly difficult to certify their films. Now we hear that the latest to face such trouble is the Yash Raj Film Kill Dil featuring Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra, Ali Fazal and Govinda.

In fact, it is learnt that the makers of the film were forced to reconsider and adapt their marketing strategies and campaigns due to a delay in the clearance of the film's trailer. The reason behind this delay are the new rules that the CBFC have introduced which state that any film or its trailer seeking a certificate will have to be submitted well in advance, which previously was not the case. This new rule translated in the overall screening and subsequent certification of Kill Dil's promo being delayed, due to which the initial marketing plan had to undergo change with the dates for the campaign being pushed by a week.

According to sources the promo tapes of Kill Dil were ready to air across satellite channels but for the want of a certificate from the CFBC, the broadcast of the same had to be delayed by a week. In fact even the satellite channels had to rework on their air media spots keeping in mind the delay of the promo.

However, Rafiq Gangjee, Vice President, Marketing & Communications at YRF, denied any such delay or change stating, "No there was no delay as such nor did we have to change our plans, we are very much on schedule. The only thing that happened was that we were informed that any film/ trailer would have to be submitted well in advance for certification."

But it doesn't stop there. With the number of films coming up for release, increasing each year, this year is no different. In fact, with the government officials being given election duty, even the CBFC members will have to adhere to norms of election duty. Add to this, the long Diwali vacation which is just round the corner, the backlog of films awaiting the certification will increase even further. Hence, Bollywood filmmakers from now on will have to adhere to the strict norms of CBFC and schedule their films way in advance for certification.
