Each year, Bollywood is known to have unearthed some fresh new talents, ones who have made sure they give a tough fight to their senior contemporaries, who have ruled the rooster for ages now. While today we already have a Ranbir and a Ranveer along with the Arjuns,Ayushmans, Siddharths, Varuns and the Imrans to look upto as the new youth brigade, 2013 has carefully added a few more new names to reckon with. While it was Dhanush’s charm that cast a spell, it was Sushant’s brilliance that wowed us over. But it was Manish and Girish’s naughty antics that kept our ribs tickling till the end. Here’s a toast to the newest treasured finds of the year.

Dhanush

The movie would not have been the same without this man. The man with the searing intensity to the coy romantic loverboy, Dhanush wonderfully transformed into the different stages of his life, captured on lens by Anand Rai in Ranjhanaa. The Kolaveri Di star had this cute charm that kind of drove our hearts away and swept us off our feet. He was endearing, enthralling and entertaining, all at the same time. And its true that the film stood out, mostly because of this smashing debut performance! Finally he’s arrived and how. Looking forward to more of Dhanush in the coming years!

Sushant Singh Rajput

Another astounding debut, one who rode swiftly from the TV mode to the silver screen, Sushant Singh Rajput has had the most compelling debut in the last few years or decades maybe! He jumped into the bandwagon with a film as special as Kai Po Che. Taking Ishan to new heights, this was one book adaptation which turned out a lot better than the book itself. Plus the way he brought out the hero in him, total gali-ka-luchcha style in Shudh Desi Romance is commendable. Definitely the biggest break through performances of the year, Sushant is riding real high on star power today and he deserves every bit of it.

Ram Charan Teja

He is a superstar down South but when he decided to travel up the course and try Bollywood, he simply failed. A remake that not just bombed but blasted our minds apart, Zanjeer was a debacle of sorts which had nothing to offer. Chewing our brains with every second of the screen time, Zanjeer tanked but Ram Charan made an otherwise good impression, thanks to his brainy and brawny looks. Clearly the road isn’t over for this dude as we would love to see him venturing into something more meaty than Zanjeer!

Manish Paul

I don’t know why but Mickey Virus, to me was an extremely well plotted thriller, based on the cyber crimes that plague the tech world today. And Manish Paul, another TV export, made waves with his wacky avatar. His coolness quotient coupled with the spunk of naughtiness upped the feel of the film and Manish’s trademark gali-ka-munda antics left us roaring in laughter. Definitely a nice debut, hopefully life will hold on better after Mickey Virus for this!

Girish Kumar

Although the brother-sister angle stole the show in this Prabhu Dheva directorial, Girish Kumar as the lead hero made a nice impression. From his mad cap histrionics to his spark of innocence, Girish floored us with each of his maneuvers. An indirect version of Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya in recent times, Girish kind of lived up to the expectations and hopefully will strive a lot better in his next films!

Amit Sadh

Another television star who had his breakthrough role with Abishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che stood out tall as the friendship saga blossomed in full throttle. Power packed gritty and extremely infectious, Amit Sadh’s simmering energy had him metamorphose from the sweet friend to the conniving politician with consummate ease.
