It has been a very disappointing start in Bollywood for Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher. They were expected to shine bright with their romantic saga Mirzya. Instead, the film has turned out to be a complete non-starter at the Box Office. 2.2 crore on the opening day are not the kind of numbers that raise any kind of hopes of a turnaround, especially when all attempts to create hype have already been made.

In the times when even good word of mouth is a rare case scenario for a film to succeed when the start is low, it is near impossible for an exception to actually occur when neither the word of mouth is impressive nor any success seen whatsoever in pulling people in the theaters.

What happens from this point on is just academic in nature and one just waits to see where does the Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra film eventually lands up. While the film brought in 2.10 crore on Saturday, hence bringing the overall sum to 4.30 crore, these are the numbers which were expected at the minimum on Friday!

Mirzya doesn’t have anything going for it and something like that is expected to (emotionally) hurt Harshvardhan and Saiyami since they invested there years of their life into the film. Such kind of passion projects can go anywhere and while you may get Bajirao Mastani on one end, there can always be a Mirzya at another extreme.

Tutak Tutak Tutiya is another film in the running and while the numbers are low there too (~2 crore in the Hindi version), it is at least managing to entertain people to an extent. The word of mouth is decent and with three open weeks till Diwali, it may just happen that in the lifetime run the Prabhudheva, Sonu Sood and Tamannaah Bhatia film may race ahead of Mirzya.

M.S. Dhoni – The Untold Story is seeing the best collections of the weekend and is bringing in more moolah than Mirzya and Tutak Tutak Tutiya combined together. With 5.20 crore more coming on Saturday, the film has collected 103.40 crore now. This also makes the entry of Neeraj Pandey and Sushant Singh Rajput in the 100 crore club. For Fox, this is another biggie for them after Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Bang Bang that has made it big.
