With Filmistaan going tax free, the ticket rates will be slashed by 25% to 30%. The film has already gathered good moolah at the box office, thanks to its positive word of mouth. Now that the film has been declared tax free, there is an expectation that the film should reach as many people as possible.

Directed by debutante Nitin Kakkar, the film had won the best feature film in Hindi at the 60th National Film Awards 2012, the Silver Crow Pheasant Award for best debut film at the International Film Festival of Kerala and a special jury mention at the 2012 Busan International Film Festival.
