Kabir Khan, easily one of the hottest directors on the scene today, is all set to begin work on his next biggie. He has signed his next film with Eros International which is expected to go on floors next year.
Confirms our source, "After the all time blockbuster success of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kabir is easily amongst the top 5 directors of the country today. His success rate has been quite phenomenal as he is the only one other than Rajkumar Hirani (PK, 3 Idiots) to have given a triple century (Bajrangi Bhaijaan) and a double century (well, almost, as Ek Tha Tiger had done 199 crores). His next movie had to be special as well."
During the last couple of years, Kabir Khan hadn't signed any new film as he was concentrating entirely on Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Phantom. With both films seeing almost back to back releases this year, he is now beginning to work on his next lot of films.
"Expectedly, his next too would have geo-politics as a strong element, just as has been the case since the days of Kabul Express and New York," adds a close associate, "He doesn't believe in making something that doesn't reflect the current affairs in some way or the other. It could be the focal theme or something that is cleverly interspersed but then that element has to be there."
Considering the fact that Eros has enjoyed their biggest money-spinner success till date with Kabir in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, it was pretty much a given that they would make a film together again.
"The production house too is currently on a roll with other major successes like Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Badlapur and NH10 this year. With over 650 crore generated so far at the Box Office just in 2015, they are looking at another biggie, Bajirao Mastani, to close the year. An association with Kabir Khan was a logical next step," an industry source adds.
While a formal announcement is on the way, it is pretty much on the cards that the film would be top-lined with superstar presence all over again. Will it be a hat-trick of films with Salman Khan, or would there be another top actor roped in? Well, watch this space.
