He is one of the finest filmmakers and head honcho of Dharma Productions; Karan Johar is also a fashion designer and now adding a feather to his cap, is the filmmaker who will soon make his acting debut with Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet.
Though he has done many friendly and guest appearances in the past in some of his and his friend's films, Bombay Velvet will see the director cum producer in a full-fledged negative role. And now we hear that Karan Johar will also be doing a prominent role in the upcoming film Shandaar. Initially, Karan was approached by director Vikas Bahl for the role of Alia's father in the same film but later, Pankaj Kapur filled in as a replacement since Karan Johar was busy with other projects. And, now we hear that the filmmaker will still be a part of the film.
However, we are still not aware of the character that Karan Johar will be playing in the film. It is being said that, despite the reluctance that Karan Johar had, it is his student Alia Bhatt who convinced him into taking up a small role in the film. Karan Johar had hesitated to take up the role of Alia's father because he wanted to wait for the release of Bombay Velvet to see the way audience respond to his acting. However, finally Alia not only managed to get the filmmaker on board for the film, the duo has started shooting for the film in London too.
Shandaar is said to be a film on destination wedding and it stars Shahid Kapoor along with Alia and Sanjay Kapoor. The film will also mark the debut of Shahid's sister Sanah and the film is looking for a 2015 release.
