Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar has done in 3 minutes what Priyanka Chopra would take 3 hours to say.

In an ad that he shot over three days last week, Shoojit got boxing champion Mary Kom to enact her own life on camera.

Says Shoojit, "It was a remarkably inspiring three-day shoot. Though it's an ad we got Mary Kom to feature in it. And we encapsulated every phase of her life from her childhood struggle for a decent life to her hard-working teens to her current status as boxing champ and a home-maker, we got all of this into the script in just a three-minute film."

The director says it was a huge challenge to get Mary Kom's life on to the film in such meager footage. "I wanted it to be an inspirational saga told in just a few minutes. I didn't want her to come across as a model selling a product but a responsible citizen selling an idea to the millions who look up to her. I had never expected her to be so camera-friendly."

The boxer, whose rise from poverty to being a global sports icon is now being made into a film starring Priyanka Chopra, was a "natural" before the camera.

"It was such a pleasure shooting with Mary Kom. She came to the sets with no attitude or fixed notions. She surrendered to whatever the script demanded. She was fully there with me, collaborating and participating like a true member of the crew," says Shoojit.
