OMG! Raveena Tandon hits back at CBFC for walking out of her film screening

Raveena Tandon’s forthcoming film Maatr that deals with rape and crime against women recently faced a threat to its release as the CBFC refused to grant certification. Reportedly, Pahlaj Nihalani and the rest of the team found the content extremely graphic and gruesome. Now, responding to these allegations, the actress has decided to respond to the same.

Reacting to CBFC’s comments on the extreme violence used to shoot the rape scene, Raveena Tandon defined the laws of Central Board of Film Certifications to be archaic. She also added that it is time to stop ‘sugarcoating’ these realities and that the film has a story that needs to be told. She also stated that this will only further make us turn a blind eye to brutality and how rape will continue to remain a taboo.

On the other hand, the makers have decided to approach the Revising Committee in a bid to get certification for their film. Producer Anjum Rizvi is hopeful that the board will understand and also asserted that this subject needs to be addressed through the medium of cinema.

Directed by Ashtar Sayed, Maatr aims at topics such as rape touching upon one of the most infamous Nirbhaya case and it is slated to release on April 21.
