PK album turned out quite a varied one. With composers such as Ajay-Atul, Shantanu Moitra and Ankit Tiwari coming together, the album with its seven tracks is not exactly a discovery but is enjoyable enough. Each song seems to have a story attached to it and probably the songs will be even better when they are featured in the film. Lyrically the album is a winner!

Tharki Chokro - PK Music Review

Full of Rajasthani folk flavour, Tharki Chokro is a bright song. It is crooned by the famed folk singer Swaroop Khan who mesmerized everyone on popular reality show Indian Idol. Composed by Ajay-Atul who are known for their energetic numbers, this one too infuses a good level of enthusiasm in you. My only problem with this song is the lyrics, which according to me do not blend well.

Nanga Punga Dost – PK Music Review

‘Nanga Punga Dost‘ is a funny number. The lyrics are extremely cute, that totally give you the ‘Friendly’ feel. Although as an audio number the song may not gain much popularity but it seems to be more connected to the film’s storyline and could sound much better in the frame than as a song one would want to hum. The song has beautiful violin and guitar pieces.

Chaar Kadam – PK Music Review

Chaar Kadam is the usual heart warming song. It is one of the typical ‘feel good’ romantic tracks. The music is quirky and crooned by Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal. This number has its own charm and is expected to become popular and high on likeability quotient. Even though there is a clichéd and repetitive tune to it, this song is quite sweet to the ears.

Love Is A Waste Of Time - PK Music Review

The music is peppy and the lyrics are cute. Shantanu Moitra adds his own touch to his song and you instantly know it is his composition. With the soulful voices of Shreya Ghoshal and Sonu Nigam that blend beautifully, the specialty of this track is its charming lyrics and just the thought behind it as it says ‘Love is a waste of time’. I specifically loved the ‘Bhojpuri English’ added to this track as PK’s character speaks that dialect.

Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu - PK Music Review

Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu is at its best the ‘Sonu Nigam’ song. He brings his usual charm to it and it reminds us of his previous tracks ‘Jaane Nahi Denge’ from 3 Idiots and ‘Abhi Mujh Mein Kahi’ from Agneepath. This song is all about the feel and a certain calm that it carries. The opening notes of the song are soulfully carved and they create a perfect base for the song. The poignant lyrics too are a winner for this number as it strikes a chord on the emotional level. Shantanu Moitra does a fine job with this track.

PK Dance Theme - PK Music Review

PK dance theme seems as colorful as the character ‘PK’. It starts slow but picks up after a point, which is quite enjoyable. There are ample of variations in the music and that’s what makes this theme worth a hearing. Only those who enjoy instrumental music should listen to it.

Dil Darbadar - PK Music Review

Dil Darbadar is a number sung and composed by Ankit Tiwari. Frankly I have no clue how this song blends into the album. All the rest of the songs have something peppy and unique which binds them in a ‘PK’ way but this track is just like Ek Villain’s ‘Galliyan’. Ankit is an amazing singer no doubts about that but he does not quite hit the right notes for this album. I would have rather listened to this song in a Bhatt film with Emraan Hashmi but certainly not with ‘PK’.

The Last Word - PK Music Review

The ‘PK’ album is a déjà vu of other Shantanu Moitra and Ankit Tiwari works, yet there is something really likable about it. These songs may not become your playlist favorite but definitely are good enough if you enjoy Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal’s singing. My picks from the album are Chaar Kadam and Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu. I am going with a 3/5 for this album.
