After the much awaited trailer of Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, hit the media, Pooja Bhatt has been fuming over the title of Vipul Shah's film. The actress turned producer claims that the title 'Holiday' has been registered with her for a while now and accuses Vipul of copyright infringement.
Pooja Bhatt had directed a film titled Holiday way back in 2006, starring Dino Morea and Onjolee Nair which was also the remake of the 1987 film Dirty Dancing. The former actress also revealed that she was approached by Vipul Shah for rights of the title but she had rejected the idea. Pooja took to twitter to vent out her anger, as she writes, "First THANK YOU then HOLIDAY! Akshay Kumar's producers have an affinity for the titles of my films. Gentle Reminder- 'Karma can be a bitch'! Vipul Shah approached me for HOLIDAY & I refused. He approached Guild-Rejected. Next stop? IMPPA where he registered HOLIDAY with a tag line."
The title 'Thank You' too was registered Pooja Bhatt and when a film with the same title was made by Anees Bazmee in 2011, she had approached the court to resolve the matter but in vain. Talking about in on the micro-blogging site, Pooja writes, "I am fighting a lone battle still with regards to THANK YOU. The HOLIDAY issue proves nothing has changed, the rot remains & might is right! This is not about UTV or Vipul Shah per se. This is about a larger issue. Why register titles if anyone can hijack them anytime they wish?"
However, responding to these accusations, Vipul Shah though agreed to have approached Pooja for the title, claimed that she cannot claim the right on the word Holiday and his film is titled as Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty. He also stated that he has written a letter to IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers' Association) about the same and have gone ahead with the title only after getting approval from them. Vipul also maintained that Pooja's statements about approaching the Guild is completely untrue as he had never approached them.
Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and is the official remake of the film Thuppaki.
