It is a norm not to expect better music from horror franchises. Mostly working off the staple spooky tunes, Ragini MMS 2 doesn’t really up the standard of the genre excessively in terms of music. Despite four musicians at work, Ragini MMS 2 doesn’t rise above being an utterly average album. Obviously Honey Singh takes the lion’s share of appreciation this time given the sunken overall quality, but if you carefully go through the tracks you know there are two exciting foot-tapping tracks to groove to at the lounges soon!

Baby Doll – Ragini MMS 2 Music Review

I have no clue why they decided to spoil the original track with the remix version. But Baby Doll song is energetic and vibrant. Though I don’t have a keen ear for music of this nature, Kanika Kapoor’s enticing voice is so powerful that you can’t abandon this song even if you intend to. Meet Bros. give quite an alluring song, with the right techno beats working off the trance ambiance of this sensational party number. But the song can be expected to take a backseat when the show gets all sunny!

Chaar Bottle Vodka – Ragini MMS 2 Music Review

The last time I heard Honey Singh, it had got me thinking that the rapper is losing his edge. Not only is the mediocre singer getting repetitive, he is losing the zing quality that made people take fancy to him in the first place. But Chaar Bottle Vodka isn’t a Lungi Dance or Party All Night. There are more lyrics than beats and it works because Singh loses himself confidently and sings with a reinvigorated gusto unlike his usual mechanical self. People might expect Sunny to seduce in this song, but if hear it curiously even the track is equally alluring.

Maine Khud Ko – Ragini MMS 2 Music Review

Mustafa Zahir’s Maine Khud Ko will make you doze off. It’s a sappy romantic track that will bore you due to its lack of soul. Pranay Rijia’s music is too commonplace and has no fresh appeal in it. Kshitij Tarey’s reprise version, however, tries to act as the number’s saving grace but the track by itself is sloppily dull. Tarey’s guitar piece beginning deserves a special mention because even if you manage to forget everything else, the intense texture of it is the only thing that is going for this song.

Lori of Death – Ragini MMS 2 Music Review

It took me too long to stop laughing on this silly song. This song reflects perfectly what is precisely the problem with Indian horror films. They try a little too hard to scare you and end up creeping you out more than anything else. This song is right out of the Ramsay’s brand of bizarre b-grade horror films. This song is disappointing to the hilt and it won’t be terrible if you decide to give this one a miss when you hear out the album.

The Last Word – Ragini MMS 2 Music Review

Ragini MMS 2 is overall a standard album with very few songs thankfully. While Honey Singh and Kanika Kapoor exhibit their flattering best, the songs succeeding them on the playlist starkly differ in terms of standard. Maine Khud Ko and Lori Of Death are dreadfully atrocious, if I can put it in those words audaciously but for Chaar bottle Vodka and Baby Doll, we cannot negate the soundtrack of Raginis MMS 2. I am going with 2.5/5 for the music album. This is also the first time I have seen the promising side of Honey Singh in terms of pure music and hope the rapper continues implementing newness in his style rather than resorting to usual unimaginative repetitive monotony all over again.
