2016 will see several biopics coming to life on the silver screen. Amidst biopics on non-Bollywood personalities like Neerja, Azhar and M S Dhoni, yet another biopic in the offing is that of actor Sanjay Dutt. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, the film will be directed by Rajkumar Hirani and it is all to release next year.
Recently, we heard that the film is all set to go on floor in September. Ranbir Kapoor, as of now, is wrapping up his much delayed Jagga Jasoos. But once he wraps the shoot schedule and the promotions of the film, he will be dedicating his time and efforts into this biopic. This is the first time when Ranbir will play the lead in a Rajkumar Hirani directorial but previously the actor had worked with the filmmaker in PK in which he did a cameo.
There have also been rumours that Sanjay Dutt will do a cameo in the said film. While Raju Hirani has already begun work on the project as he held a camera and shot the footage of Sanjay Dutt walking out of jail (on February 25 when he was released out of prison), it's likely that the footage will make it to the movie. Rajkumar Hirani, we hear, also delayed the film because he was apparently waiting for his Munnabhai aka Sanjay Dutt to return so that he can incorporate Sanju's inputs in the biopic too.
As of now, no other details on the casting have been announced. Sanjay Dutt biopic will trace the journey of the actor's life, from his childhood to his debut in Bollywood to his journey as a star to his imprisonment and will uncover some personal aspects of the actor's life. The film is all set to release on Christmas 2017.
