Salman Khan's sister's wedding reception held on Friday night at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai was attended by all of Salman's friends who couldn't make it to the wedding at Hyderabad.
That included Shah Rukh Khan with whom Salman had a high-profile patch-up last week. Shah Rukh arrived at the reception at 2 am, thereby proving that he was indeed a night bird.
Says an invitee, "Shah Rukh Khan came very late but was in his element even at that time of the night. He chatted with the bride and her husband, with Salman-Arpita's parents and danced with Salman."
Salman's buddy Govinda who is in the limelight again after the rave reviews for his two back-to-back releases couldn't go to Hyderabad for the wedding as he was promoting the two films. He was at his chirpy best at the wedding reception and seen in a long amiable conversation with his pal-director David Dhawan, thereby putting an end to the speculation of differences between the Hero No 1 and Director No.1.
In fact a prominent guest at the reception heard Govinda and David discussing a forthcoming project featuring Salman and Govinda together. "It wasn't a sequel to Partner that they were discussing but something else," said the guest.
Shatrughan Sinha and daughter Sonakshi were seen. But Mrs Shatrughan Sinha who is apparently out of the country was missing.
Salman's protegees Sooraj Pancholi and Aathia Shetty who are not allowed to make public appearances made a concession this time, though according to invitees, Sooraj and Aathiya hardy spoke with one another.
While no one from the Bachchan clan was present for the reception, the Kapoor clan was represented by Randhir Kapoor and his elder daughter Karisma. Kareena and her husband Saif have apparently taken off for a holiday to London to de-stress after the release of Happy Ending.
A filmmaker friend of the couple known for his sharp tongue was heard commenting, "The number of holidays that Bebo and Saif take must be exhausting. They need holidays to get over their holidays."
The veteran brigade was led by the mighty Dilip Kumar who arrived with his beautiful wife Saira Banu early during the evening. In a rare show of respect Salman, his father Salim Khan, the bride Arpita and the groom came down to the lobby area of the hotel to personally receive Dilip Kumar and accompany him inside.
