Since the day filmmaker Anand L. Rai announced the sequel to Tanu Weds Manu, the film got entangled in a dispute which fueled between the film's director Rai and producer of the prequel Vinod Bachchan. However, after a five month long legal battle, finally, the matter seems to have settled down now.

Right after the announcement of Tanu Weds Manu 2, Vinod Bachchan who holds a 51 percent share in the prequel had sent a legal notice to L. Rai for announcing the sequel without taking his consent. And now we hear, that Eros International who came on board as the producer for the second installment took matters into their hands and has now, resolved the issue amicably. It is being said, that Vinod Bachchan was paid a lump sum in order to sort out the problem. Though Krishika Lulla maintained that all these issues have been resolved, she hasn't divulged any details about the monetary settlement. On the other hand, Vinod Bachchan too did not reveal on the amount he was paid for this but he did mention that it was obvious that there has been a monetary transaction since a settlement is not possible without it. However, he also further added that the film is very close to his heart.

As far as the current status of Tanu Weds Manu 2 is concerned, the film has already gone on floors in Lucknow. It will be a continuation of its first installment and it has even retained the lead pair Kangna Ranaut and R Madhavan. Kangna will play a double role, where one will be the wife of Manu (Madhavan) and the other will be a Haryanvi athlete. This love triangle will explore the intricacies of marital relationships and the first look of the lead actors have already been revealed.
