Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Daayra has had an extremely poor opening at the Indian box office. The film marks Kareena Kapoor’s return after a lengthy break, but it has failed to generate enough excitement among her fans to bring them to theatres. Both fans and the general moviegoing audience appear to have given the film a miss. It has also underperformed in Kerala, which was expected to be one of its strongest markets because of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s popularity in the state. With such a disappointing start, the film may struggle to post a respectable opening-weekend total or sustain itself over its theatrical run. Although Daayra has received positive ratings from moviegoers, the response has not translated into significant ticket sales. Based on the current trend, the film is expected to earn approximately ₹5-6 crore during its opening weekend and may finish with a lifetime domestic collection of around ₹9-10 crore.

Daayra is an Indian crime thriller co-written and directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film is produced by Vineet Jain and Dhaval Jain under the banners of Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios. Inspired by a true event, the film stars Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. Its supporting cast includes Kanwaljit Singh, Achint Kaur, Anuja Sathe, Seema Azmi, Biswapati Sarkar, Jitendra Joshi, and Upendra Chauhan, among others. Daayra was theatrically released on 18 September 2026 and received positive reviews from critics.
