Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi’s latest film, “Dhadak 2”, had a weak opening at the Indian box office on Friday. Even though it is a sequel to the hit film “Dhadak”, the movie did not draw large crowds. One reason may be its controversial topic—the caste system—which many young people feel is less relevant in today’s society. Today’s youth seem less interested in films that revisit outdated social issues, especially when the storytelling feels like propaganda rather than entertainment. As a result, the movie only managed to earn a few crores on its opening day.

Even though “Dhadak 2” was produced by Dharma Productions, one of Bollywood’s biggest banners, the brand name was not enough to attract audiences to cinemas. The film has received a mixed response from both critics and viewers—while some appreciated its message, others criticized it for being out of touch. This mixed response means it will be very challenging for the film to do well at the box office during its opening weekend and in the long run.
Another factor affecting its performance is competition from several other movies currently playing in theaters, making it harder for “Dhadak 2” to stand out or increase its box office collections.
The Indian box office collection of “Dhadak 2” is as follows:
