Dharmendra’s last film Ikkis failed to make a strong impact at the box office. Even though the film released during a partial holiday, it suffered due to the massive success of Dhurandhar, which is still dominating the box office in its fifth week. Dhurandhar created history by earning over ₹10 crore for four consecutive weeks. Releasing Ikkis at such a time proved to be a major mistake by the makers. Moreover, Ikkis follows an “Aman ki Asha” type narrative, using a nationalist story but modifying it in a way that many viewers feel that it pushes Bollywood’s Pakistan agenda. Moviegoers have become more aware and are increasingly rejecting films that push such themes. While some audiences visited theatres on the opening day to watch Dharmendra for the last time, the weak story is expected to keep viewers away in the long run. Based on current trends, the film is likely to earn around ₹30-35 crore in its lifetime.

Ikkis is a Bollywood biographical war drama directed and co-written by Sriram Raghavan. The film is co-produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, along with Binny Padda, Sharada Karki Jalota, and Poonam Shivdasani. It was released in theatres on 1 January 2026.
