Currently trending on the social networking sites is a shocking statement apparently made by Samajwadi Party state leader, Abu Azmi who claimed that 'Rape victims should be punished along with the ones who committed the grim crime' and also stated that 'women having sex outside the wedlock should be punished like criminals'.

While the people and media are strongly opposing such sexist comments made by the politician, his daughter-in-law and former Bollywood actress Ayesha Takia too took to Twitter to apologize for his comments. Ayesha wrote in her tweet, "If wot im reading about my father in laws statements r true then me and Farhan are deeply embarrassed n ashamed... We surely do nottt share this mindset...its disrespectful to women.if these statements r true then its sad."

The actress clarified that they do not accept this kind of discriminated attitude and has apologized on behalf of her husband and hotelier Farhan Azmi.
