In spite of its potentially controversial subject matter and no-holds-barred treatment of international terrorism, Neeraj Pandey's eagerly-awaited Baby has been given a 'UA' certificate with just three minor verbal cuts, where abusive cusswords ('bhenc..d', 'chu..ya' and 'fu.k') were deleted.

Otherwise, everything else in the film remains intact.

Director Neeraj Pandey is understandably jubilant. "We haven't shown anything that every person in the audience doesn't already know about. Terrorism is all around us. We can't escape its impact. After the savage attack on Peshawar it is important for our children to know that terrorism is lurking even in places where our children were once considered safe."

Neeraj is happy that the UA certificate would allow children to view Baby under parental guidance.

He dismisses charges of the film being anti-Pakistan. "Terror is prevalent everywhere in the subcontinent. Let's not fool ourselves into believing it's not present in India. Just the other day we had another terror attack in Bangalore. I chose the Pakistani actor Rasheed Naaz to play the main terrorist because I wanted someone with an oratorical kill who could sway audiences into hatred and violence. There are are two villains in the film an Indian played by K K Menon and a Pakistani played by Rasheed Naaz."

Akshay Kumar feels Baby has a very important message for impressionable minds. "We have deliberately portrayed the whole situation to uncover the bravery of the men that fight terrorism behind closed doors .These are fighters that the world doesn't even know about. Instead of glorifying the bad guys, we have made people remember the silent good guys, because it's they who deserve the attention and glory, only them."

Interestingly, Baby was certified a day after Leela Samson quit as the chairperson of the CBFC (censor board of film certification).
