The most talked about thing in Bewakoofiyaan is Sonam Kapoor’s bikini show. The actress after making it clear twice earlier, that she wouldn’t ever slip into a bikini went ahead and did a sizzling show with it in the trailer of Nupur Asthana’s upcoming film. Yesterday when Koimoi caught up with the actress, who was looking a spitting image of Snow White, the actress very excitedly proclaimed that wearing the bikini was her idea. Though Nupur and Sonam debated on whose idea it really was, it was clear that the gorgeous beauty had no qualms about it at all.

“If there is a girl who is going for a vacation with her boyfriend and friends, she would definitely wear a bikini. Though Nupur’s idea was wearing a one-piece initially, I totally dismissed that. My body is not made for a one piece. My waist is tiny and bikini would show my stomach.”

There has been much hullabaloo in the media about her bikini stint simply because the actress had strictly rejected the idea of bikini on two occasions before. Sonam smiled that she remembers it all. The lady who claims to have a elephant’s memory elucidated the incidents with specifics to us. She said, “The decision for the bikini was given to me. The logic was clear. I am an Indian girl with big hips and a small waist so this suits me well. A few years ago, I was not really keen on something like this simply because I was not in my best shape either. It is not a very big deal. I had previously spoken about this during Kali Puri’s book launch where I spoke about my weight and the struggles I went through because I was overweight. I remember being asked about it and I told the reporters specifically that I don’t have the body to wear it because of my saggy bum. I wasn’t confident way back then about it.”

The actress continued about her perception about body image. She said, “For a former fat girl body image is like a big deal. I did this not for anything else but for myself. When I first came to this industry as a 21 year old, all I wore for the first 2 years was ethnic clothes. Slowly as I grew older, I started getting more confident about wearing western clothes. Even now I don’t wear very short clothes because I am still not very confident about my body. Doing this was a challenge to me. The second time when I was asked about it again was at Anuja Chauhan’s book launch, I denied it flatly because I had already wore it for this film and it was not supposed to be out.”

Well, there is a lot more to look forward to in Bewakoofiyaan, mostly Habib Faisal’s script which have always proved to be marvels of sorts. All said and done, the film is looking at a solo release this Friday and might just surprise us with its innocence.
