As was predicted a couple of days and the trend that was witnessed last morning, Singh Is Bliing has taken a very good opening at the Box Office. The film started well and stayed on course through the day, hence collecting around 20.67 crore on Friday.
With this, Singh Is Bliing has managed to set a few records for the year:
- Akshay Kumar’s biggest opening day ever, hence beating Brothers (15.2 crore) by a margin of around 35%
- Bollywood’s second biggest opening day of 2015 after Bajrangi Bhaijaan (27.25 crore)
- Prabhudheva’s biggest opening day ever, hence beating Rowdy Rathore (15.1 crore) by a margin of around 35%
- Amy Jackson’s second biggest opening day ever after this year’s South release I, which had netted 22 crore across all languages
The film opened excellently, especially in North where collections can be compared with that of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The momentum could well have carried on late in the evening and night shows as well, which could have propelled collections in 22-24 crore region. However, the T-20 cricket match in the evening did hit the collections a little.
Also, new release Talvar had its target audience stepping out in the evening, and same was the case with holdover release Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon which had some show timings reserved for it in the evening. All this was compensated to some extent though by 2nd October holiday.
Now the film has entered its normal weekend and it would speak for itself with word of mouth setting in. With advance booking indicating good signs, the film is expected to come up with bountiful numbers over the weekend.
