Description: Video details - S9NQG7ONcBQ: Director: Nagesh Kukunoor Producer: Shailendra Singh, Bhushan Kumar Music: A. R. Rahman Main Cast: Akshay Kumar, Ayesha Takia, Jaaved Jaaferi, Sonal Sehgal. Genre: Fantasy Banner: Percept Picture Company Release: Apr 03, 2009 Synopsis: "Too Much of Everything is Bad" This perhaps is the line best suited for Nagesh Kukunoor's latest flick. Am an abss lover of the kinds of films that he makes ..from Hyderabad Blues to Teen Deewaarein to more recent ones like DOR or an IQBAL. Thus, i had set high expectations bfr i went out to watch 8 X 10 Tasveer in the theater. More so... as am an avid lover of sci-fi ones to suspense thrillers! The film had started out on a good note with a tight suspense packed storyline with the protagonist having this unique power to see/ visualize the past looking into 8 by 10 picture frames of people. It perhaps shows the honest effort of Mr Kukunoor to venture into untried zones and has Akshay as the charming protagonist to do the needful but fizzles out towards the end in an attempt to make it too complex or novel. The Ayesha Takia and the Javed Jaffrey angles too work for the best.. with Sharmila Tagore making an impressing comeback! Girish Karnad and Benjamin Gilani ..i feel are wasted for the kind of powerful actors that they are..What highly disappoints me .. is the END or how/ or with whatever logic the mystery unfolds and it is solved. Without diclosing too much.. for the cinematic pleasure of others.. that THIS is not a Nagesh Kukunoor trademark film. The poor chap, in his attempt to over do the suspense or thrill.. has unfortunately "spoiled the broth" Cmmon.. we had films alike IQBAL and DOR.. the audience has a certain expectation and Mr KUKUNOOR ought to give his best... Sadly, this isnt his Best Attempt. Music is not used much in the film but the song by BOHEMIA during roll credits is worth a humm... P.S. I wish the poor chap all the MORE luck for his upcoming flick "Aashayein " where i see he gives an attempt to make ABRAHAM emote.. ha ha (whoever thought he could emote !!)- an attempt of the filmmaker much more dangerous than Film-making.
