His servant, Karim Mian (Raghubir Yadav) constantly tries to alert him with the riots, but Khan Saheb realises the extent of the trauma only after witnessing the destruction of a shrine dedicated to the Sufi saint, Wali Gujarati. Aarti (Deepti Naval) a Hindu house-wife, residing with her husband, Sanjay (Paresh Rawal) and his brother, Deven (Dilip Joshi) is in trauma with the guilt that she did not help a Muslim lady, who was being chased by the cops. In order to pay for her sins, she finds a Muslim boy, Mohsin, who is wandering in search of his father, and gives him shelter at her house. On the other hand, Aarti's husband, who is not bothered about her being in trauma, is trying to bribe the police to set free Deven, who is on charge for raping a woman. Muneera (Shahana Goswami) and her husband Hanif (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) a happily married Muslim couple, return home and learn that their house is destroyed. Hanif, decides to fight against this violation and is in search of a gun along with his Muslim friends, while Muneera, is in search of her Hindu neighbour, as she suspects her to be a part of the looting that takes place in her house. Sameer Shaikh (Sanjay Suri) a Muslim, is married to Anuradha Desai (Tisca Chopra).
