Shahabuddin Muhammad Ghori was defeated 16 times by Prithviraj Chauhan and was always left to go on the mercy of the great king Prithviraj. The turning point came in history when Prithviraj married the daughter of Raja Jaichand, king of Kannauj. Raja Jaichand and Prithviraj had a rivalry, Jaichand decided to insult Prithviraj and arranged a Swayamvar for his daughter. He invited royalty from far and wide to the ceremony, every eligible prince and king except Prithviraj. He then commissioned a clay statue of Prithviraj, which served as doorman to Jaichand's court. On the day of the ceremony, Sanyogita walked through the court holding the ceremonial garland, ignoring the gazes of her ardent suitors. She passed through the door and put the garland around the neck of Prithviraj's statue, declaring him her husband. Prithviraj, who meanwhile was hiding behind the statue, caught Sanyogita up in his arms, set her on his horse, and whisked her away to Delhi. Raja Jaichand was enraged. This led to a rift between Delhi and Kannauj, which was later taken advantage of by Mohammad Ghori of Afghanistan. Raja Jaichand later joined hands with Mohammad Ghori to defeat Prithviraj. Muhammad Ghori and Raja Jaichand defeated Prithviraj's army and took Prithviraj as an prisoner. Raja Jaichand was later beheaded by Ghori, Jaichand's head was hanged in Delhi to show the entire kingdom that Jaichand was traitor to his own country and his own people. Mohammad Ghori made Prithviraj blind, but king Prithviraj had a special skill, even when blindfolded he was capable to shoot the arrow accurately to its target. Prithviraj killed Ghori with arrow, and in the end Prithviraj and his minister killed each other. This is the historical story of the legend of India.
